22 homes and counting!
Founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller, Habitat for Humanity International is devoted to the simple goal of providing "simple, decent, and affordable” housing. Since then, Habitat has helped more than 4 million people construct, rehabilitate or preserve homes, making Habitat the largest not-for-profit builder in the world.
The Pope Campus Chapter was founded in 1998, and has participated in constructing a home every year.
In 2023, we will be building our 25th home.
Pope is a member of the Habitat for Humanity High School Coalition. Each spring, the NW Metro Habitat, Pope High School students and three other area high schools, come together to build a home for a wonderful family. Each year, students raise $ so that a family can have a home. Every Saturday for 9 weeks, high school students from each school work together to build a home where they are supervised by wonderful Habitat Crew leaders. They are put to work doing hammering, painting, caulking, insulating, gardening, etc...
New skills are learned and friendships are made!
